$6 mil grant to give educators data to customize teaching - Rachael Quattrini, The Arizona Republic

Thanks to nearly $6 million in federal funds, Arizona educators will receive data to help customize teaching for each student. The U.S. Department of Education grant, announced Wednesday, will be used to strengthen a state program to collect information about individual student academic progress and other data such as annual achievement results, attendance rates, graduation data and demographic information. The updated data would be available to teachers and principals, helping them to individualize instruction for each student. "This will ensure that teachers in every part of the state have the information they need to understand where their individual students are doing well academically and where they need help. The importance of having fresh data cannot be overstated," said state Superintendent Tom Horne.
