is PHP so popular?
Before PHP, there was Javascript. Javascript does some really cool things like rotate ads, graphics, text but, unfortunately, it is simply not readable by the search engines.
Those of us working on the internet love PHP because it does all the Javascript does and everything that does and the turns up on the page is read and counted by the search engines.
This means that if I want to import and rotate articles to keep my content sites full of good, search engine friendly content and make that content fresh, I can use PHP to accomplish this.
Now, to make this happen. I need to get a script written in PHP and learn how to install the script on a web server. PHP is not a software that I can simply download, install and open on my computer.
Still, I have managed to master, at least, the installation of many PHP scripts as well as managed to even modify the script enough to make my installation unique to my site. My Business Woman's Directory is one such PHP run script that I have modified for uniqueness.
Where To Find PHP Scripts
You can find PHP scripts at sites that host a listing of hundreds of different scripts of all kinds including CGI and Java such as hotscripts.com. These sites have a section of scripts written just in PHP at which I've found some really nice free scripts and some low cost PHP scripts to improve my websites performance and placement in the search engines.
If I had time, I would learn to write PHP since there are so many ways a webmaster and internet marketer could use the script to help with automation and site improvements.
Maybe someday, I'll find the time to become a PHP expert but for now, I am happy to be a PHP dummy and use the scripts ready-made for innovative small business webmasters!
