April 20, 2010- LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
Guinness World Records, the global authority on record breaking achievements and publisher of the world's best selling copyright book, is announcing the next evolution of its brand with the launch of a new App specially designed for one of the most highly anticipated media platform releases of the year, the Apple iPad.
Guinness World Records: At Your Fingertips, a free LITE App created specifically for the iPad, will offer an exclusive collection of multi-layered, world-record feats that include compelling video, images and graphics allowing readers to interact with the content like never before.
At yesterday's London Book Fair, the brand new App was demonstrated in the capable hands of the Most pierced man and the Tallest married couple, amongst other infamous record breakers. The event stood out as displaying how Guinness World Records is pushing the publishing envelope with innovative user experiences, and a video by a Guinness World Records spokesperson filmed at the Book Fair can be found with this release.
Developed in conjunction with design agency,
Brandwidth, the Guinness World Records free LITE version of this App will be available with the launch of the
iPad in the UK, which is currently set for a late-May release. Designed to give users a preview of the full version that will be available in September, the LITE version provides more than 150 photographs, 140 records, 25 stunning video clips in a range of 9 record environments including: Strangest, Craziest, Fastest, Deadliest, Tallest, Most Expensive, Gamer's Edition, GWR Day and How to be a Record Holder.
"The iPad App is an exciting next step in expanding Guinness World Records' digital strategy," said Katie Forde, Director of IT at Guinness World Records.
