IBC leads the way in Digital Signage
« Posted: March 02, 2010, 08:54:19 PM »

Expanded Digital Signage Zone to form hub for heightened focus on connected consumer devices and their impact on content creation, management and delivery

(London – 2 March 2010) The market for Digital Signage is set to grow rapidly over the next few years. A recent report by iSuppli predicts that global shipments of digital retail signs are set to rise to 2.5 million units by 2013. This figure represents a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 26.8% since 2008. The technologies, solutions and content that are driving this revolution in communication will form the focus for the Digital Signage Zone at IBC2010.

The IBC2010 Digital Signage Zone will bring together many of the organisations and technologies that are emerging as major forces in this sector. It will therefore provide a unique opportunity for application developers, content providers and technology companies to showcase their capabilities at the heart of the broadcast industry’s leading international conference and exhibition.

Now in its third year, the IBC2010 Digital Signage Zone has been expanded to form a hub for a new area and visitor attraction showcasing advances in connected consumer devices and exploring their impact on content creation and distribution.

The IBC2010 Digital Signage Zone will be accompanied by the IBC2010 Digital Signage Zone Business Briefings to which attendance is free. These briefings will examine some of the issues and opportunities arising from this revolution in broadcast content delivery in further detail and are intended to reinforce and complement the established peer reviewed, paid-delegate IBC Conference. Amongst the subjects addressed at this year’s Business Briefings will be the impact of new technologies on traditional revenue streams and the emergence of new business models and funding mechanisms.

Commenting on the development of the Digital Signage Zone at IBC2010, Michael Crimp, CEO, IBC, said: “Digital Signage is fast developing as a new advertising medium and an important new delivery mechanism for broadcast content. The investment IBC is making in establishing the Digital Signage Zone at IBC2009 reflects the strategic importance of the medium and the key role that the broadcast industry has to play in its development.”

The Digital Signage Zone at IBC2010 is being jointly developed and marketed by IBC, IT Europa and BPL. The IBC2010 exhibition takes place from 10th - 14th September 2010 at the RAI, Amsterdam.
