Sydney Australia, Tapit has announced it is partnering with HTC to showcase the NFC (Near Field Communication) feature of the recently launched HTC One X handset. In an event being held tonight at Sydney’s Technology Startup Area, The Carriage Works. Tapit will be using NFC as a gamification style tactic to drive event participation for the first time, with the objective of showcasing the amazing camera and authentic sound capabilities of the HTC One X.
Over 1000 people will be attending all with unique wristbands. Attendees will be given a personalised wristband with their name encoded into the Tapit system, they will then go around to different areas of the event to get “tapped” after viewing HTC demos. The more times they are “tapped” the more points they earn to win prizes.
There will be a live real time leader board projected at the event showing rankings of the top 10 players. The top 8 players who have earned the most points win exclusive prizes from HTC.
Andrew Davis, Tapit Agency Director said “This is definitely a first for Australia and possibly globally. NFC has surpassed QR and RFID as a means of event interaction. It’s really innovative of HTC and a fantastic use of Tapits technology. We are hoping through our gamification of the event that attendees will find out more about the HTC One X than they otherwise would have”
VIP’s at the event will have special wristbands where unique content specific to them is displayed when they Tapit, showing off how a simple tap of a wristband can activate content on the HTC One X via Tapit.
Tapit believes that the ease of using NFC will ensure wide mass-market adoption. Consumer behavior will change in that people will expect to be able to use their phones to collect content and information by simply tapping enabled objects.
