London, UK – January 17th , 2013 – Armadillo Ltd., one of the UK’s leading security solutions integrators, today announced that it has entered into partnership with Osirium, a leading provider of Privileged Management solutions, to offer their customers a scalable solution to protect SysAdmin environments and simplify the complexities of system management by automating common tasks.
These organisations, many of which are very large, complex and heterogeneous, not only have to consider external threats but also need to deal with threats from within, and particularly from those with IT privileges.
Research from PWC in 2012 found that in large organisations (500+ employees) 82%[1] had insider related breaches, while Ponemon Institute research found that the average cost of a malicious insider attack was £120,000[2] and took 50 days to contain. CERT, a US government funded research and development center, have identified that just over 30%[3] of insider attacks look to sabotage IT networks, systems or data and technical staff are the perpetrators. CERT also highlighted the growing threat posed to organisations from granting service providers privileged access to their network, systems or information.
The Osirium solution effortlessly secures Enterprises, Cloud and Managed Service providers from insider threats and the trust management challenges of privileged user activities. Billions of corporate pounds are already being spent on closing off external security threats and yet it’s cyber-attacks from within an organisation, including outsourced 3rd party services, that actually poses the greatest threat to corporate risk and reputational damage.
'Our customers are asking us to help tighten up control of their privileged users, particularly those from third parties support services’ said Mark Newns, CEO at Armadillo, ‘as a result, we assessed the market and very quickly settled on Osirium because it was a scalable solution that didn’t disrupt the way SysAdmins went about their jobs – and that was a critical factor for our customers.’
‘One of the other aspects that set Osirium apart from other solutions’, continues Andy Mayle, CTO, Armadillo ‘is its ability to automatically create personalised privileged accounts across multi-vendor estates of network devices, servers and applications. This allows each session recording or log file activity to be associated with an individual privileged user which means customers can achieve full accountability over privileged user activities to meet numerous compliance and best practice requirements’.
David Guyatt, CEO at Osirium Ltd. comments; ‘We’ve taken a fundamentally different approach to managing privileged users. We’ve understood and learnt lessons from the limitations of older solutions, and re-focused Osirium’s priorities on delivering security, scaleability and simplicity without the disruption to existing SysAdmin teams. Armadillo are well regarded in this market and are seen as trusted security advisors by their customers, which reinforces the partnership potential between our two companies.'
