London, October 18, 2012 – SMART Storage Systems, an innovative and rapidly emerging enterprise SSD technology provider, today announced that X-IO has selected the company’s Optimus Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) solid-state drive (SSD) for use in its Hyper ISE 7-Series storage solution. Designed for enterprise-class storage environments, the Hyper ISE 7-Series leverages the Optimus SAS SSD to deliver improved performance of up to 300,000 IOPS, and enhanced endurance of up to 10 drive writes per day (DWPD), while leveraging lower cost consumer-grade multi-level cell (MLC) Flash. The Hyper ISE 7-Series  is designed to operate for five years while utilising Optimus MLC SSDs and is supported by X-IO’s exclusive five-year, no-cost, standard hardware warranty. SMART Storage Systems and X-IO will display and demonstrate the new Hyper ISE 7-Series equipped with 10 Optimus SAS 200GB SSDs at SNW Fall in the SMART Storage Systems booth (#412), October 17-18, 2012 in Santa Clara, Calif.

The X-IO Hyper ISE 7-Series is a hybrid storage solution that meets enterprise storage requirements for performance-driven applications. By offering up to 21.6TB of useable HDD and SSD storage capacity and max read/write performance of 1.4GB/s, the Hyper ISE 7-Series gives customers the necessary combination of performance and capacity. The Optimus SAS SSD leverages SMART Storage Systems’ proprietary Guardian Technology Platform™ to deliver unmatched endurance from consumer-grade MLC Flash, as well as a complete set of enterprise features to the Hyper ISE 7-Series.

Designed for the enterprise environment, the Optimus SAS SSD delivers random read/write performance of 100K/50K IOPS and a sustained transfer rate of 500MB/s, and is available in useable capacities ranging from 200GB to 1.6TB. The Guardian Technology Platform is comprised of the FlashGuard™, EverGuard™, and DataGuard™ technologies. FlashGuard enables commercial MLC Flash to achieve higher endurance levels while also resulting in no performance degradation over the life of the drive, making it suitable for the enterprise environment.
