Wyse Thin Clients Now Certified for VMware VDI and VMware Virtual Desktop Manager

Certification Provides Customers with Assurance of Seamless Desktop Virtualization Experience for Entire Family of Wyse Thin Clients

London Sept. 24, 2008 –Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced that Wyse devices are certified for VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Virtual Desktop Manager. VMware Virtual Desktop Manager is a key component of VMware VDI, a comprehensive desktop virtualization solution, and allows end users to securely access their virtual desktops while providing IT administrators an easy and cost-effective way to manage the entire virtual desktop environment from the datacenter.

VMware VDI lets businesses replace traditional PCs with cost-effective virtual machines, improving control of corporate assets and simplifying desktop management and administration.  VMware VDI, combined with Wyse’s advanced line of thin clients, extends many benefits of virtualization to the desktop, including lower total cost of ownership, simplified maintenance, and a consistent experience for end users.

"Wyse has long been synonymous with the term 'thin client,' so we are excited that Wyse's broad range of devices are now certified for VMware VDI and Virtual Desktop Manager," said Jeff Jennings, vice president of desktop products and solutions at VMware. "Through this certification, customers know they’ll have all the manageability and TCO benefits of VMware VDI as well as the rich end-user experience for which Wyse devices are known."

"As organizations look to deploy virtualization from the datacenter to the desktop, the need for proven, certified solutions is more important than ever," said Ricardo Antuna, Vice President of Product Management and Business Development at Wyse Technology.  "Every day, the need for old-fashioned PCs becomes less necessary, and the logic of thin client computing makes more sense."

Certification was extended to the following Wyse devices:
All Wyse devices running Microsoft® Windows® XP Embedded, including desktops and laptops that ship standard with VDM client software
All Wyse devices utilizing the Wyse Thin OS, which include Wyse's implemented of a VDM client.

This includes specific Wyse devices such as G90, S10, S90, V10L, V90, V90L, V90LE, X90, X90e, X90L, X90Le

Further details on the devices certified for VMware Virtual Device Manager can be found on the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) found at http://www.vmware.com/resources/techresources/1053
