Wembley, London UK 15th October 2013
The awards ceremony at the NextGen 13 conference dinner celebrated winners from across six categories of digital endeavour. New categories for this year – Digital Skills, Open Data, and Digital Innovation – signaled the growth enabled by improved broadband infrastructures.
Introducing the 2013 Next Generation Digital Challenge awards ceremony yesterday evening, Go ON UK Director of Programme and Partnerships Sarah Bridges, said: “We welcome the inclusion this year of an awards category for Digital Skills. In the UK there are one in five adults without basic online skills, and it’s crucially important we work together to change this. The Finalists for this year’s award highlight the need to drive the digital skills agenda, and to work towards making the UK the most digitally skilled nation in the world.”
Full details of the Winners and Runners Up in each category are appended and brief summaries of their work are available on the NextGen 13 website -

Speaking for the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, CEO Philip Hargrave, underlined the need for innovation in a globally competitive world. “Sponsoring the Digital Innovation category,” he said, “has teased out a wealth of talent in the UK that deserves greater recognition and support. Some of these achievements are making a massive difference to the lives of ordinary people and businesses across the entire economy.”
This is a third year for this prestigious awards programme and the organisers, Groupe Intellex and NG Events noted that following the `Open Call’ in February the initial entry level rose this year by 300% - another sign of the energy that is unleashed by wider understanding of digital impacts and better connectivity.
