Websense selects Image Analyzer technology
« Posted: September 19, 2011, 08:59:57 PM »

Reading, UK – September 19, 2011 -  Image Analyser (www.image-analyzer.com) announced today that the company will be providing their technology to Websense®, a global leader in complementary web security, email security, and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions. Websense will use Image AnalyzerTM technology in their portfolio of security solutions to provide their users with added protection from inappropriate images, such as pornography.

Images increasingly dominate new web content with over one-third of sites containing adult-oriented content such as pornography.  As all organisations have a legal duty of care to protect employees from disturbing and illegal content on the web, in emails and other data, it is essential that they have robust solutions in place to protect users from exposure to pornography and other offensive visual material.

Also, legislators in the U.S. have acted decisively to tackle the issue of pornography on Government networks and the networks of their suppliers and contractors. The Bill of Appropriation (HR4899)(1), passed in July 2010, prohibits the allocation of funds to any Government agency or their suppliers or contractors that do not apply appropriate measures to block and prevent the exchange of pornography on their networks. The addition of Image Analyzer to the Websense content security solutions, including Websense TRITON™, will help ensure organizations that do business with the U.S. Government are compliant with this new legislation.

Cris Pikes, CEO of Image Analyser, commented, “Image Analyzer offers Websense customers added protection from the risk of inadvertent exposure to illicit images such as pornography.  By deploying Image Analyzer across their strong portfolio of unified content security solutions, Websense will continue to provide a consistently superior level of protection that ensures legislation compliance and safeguards corporate reputations.”

Jonathan Wilkinson, Director of Product Management – Email Security, at Websense added, “We chose to partner with Image Analyser after rigorous testing and evaluation of their image recognition technology. The addition of Image Analyzer technology to our already proven portfolio of email security, web security and data security solutions supports our commitment to keeping organizations productive, compliant, and protected from inappropriate content.”

Image Analyser technology will be integrated into Websense TRITON, the company’s flagship content security product, which offers complementary web, email, and DLP security. TRITON is backed by the real-time Websense Advanced Classification Engine (ACE). ACE classifies complex online threats and content into 95 categories. Every hour, ACE analyzes 40 million websites, scans 10 million emails, and assigns reputation to 2 million domains, networks, IPs, and hosts. ACE is powered by the Websense ThreatSeeker® Network and the expert Websense Security Labs™ team. Every day the Websense ThreatSeeker Network processes 3-5 billion pieces of content daily.

Image Analyzer has been specifically developed to provide high levels of accuracy in correctly identifying clean content and to provide high detection rates for offensive material. Cris Pikes, CEO of Image Analyser added, “We are delighted that Websense has selected Image Analyzer as the image recognition engine for their unified content security solutions. Image Analyzer delivers consistently high rates of accurate pornography detection and ensures that clean image content is delivered directly to users. We will help enrich the safe web experience for Websense customers worldwide.”
