19 July 2010 – Webfusion is today announcing that its Chief Executive, Thomas Vollrath has been voted to the Nominet Board of Directors. As a non-executive director, Vollrath will help drive the strategic direction of one of the world’s largest Internet registries, managing over eight million domain names.
Thomas Vollrath explains his passion for the directorship. “Nominet has been through a series of crucial changes to its governance structure to further strengthen its constitution and ensure the .uk space continues to flourish. It is an exciting time for Nominet, and a self-regulated .uk space holds great opportunities for all internet stakeholders. It’s my firm belief that .uk has grown in such a healthy manner precisely because it is not controlled by a public body. During its time .uk has become the most trusted domain for UK consumers and businesses alike.
“In order to maintain and accelerate growth in UK e-business, I believe it is vital that we maintain the independence that has supported our industry’s’ growth so well to-date. As part of a committed and stable Board of Directors, I intend to help Nominet create a .uk environment that secures the fast paced innovation that the UK is known for.”
Thomas is an accomplished, results-oriented international business executive with experience in establishing, acquiring, integrating, and leading diverse operations in multiple international locations. He has succeeded in delivering business growth in a variety of contrasting situations, including turning around and realising significantly enhanced value in previously underperforming divisions.
Baroness Rennie Fritchie DBE – Chair of Nominet welcomes Vollrath’s election, “Thomas brings valuable experience and expertise to the Nominet Board. As a member of the Board I believe he will contribute significantly to Nominet in its next phase of development.”
