Web Filtering Company Bloxx Recognised for the Second Consecutive Year in Deloitte Technology Fast 50
Company ranked number 19th Fastest Growing Technology Company in the UK
Bloxx, the web content filtering specialist, today announced that it has been recognised by Deloitte as one of the UK’s fastest expanding technology businesses for the second consecutive year. Bloxx - who has established itself as the leading independent UK web filtering provider – is listed at number 19 in Deloitte’s prestigious ‘Fast 50’ award programme for its rapid growth over the last five years.
“Growing the top line enough to make the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 is especially meaningful during tough economic times for the technology sector,” comments David Halstead, lead partner for the Deloitte Fast 50. “The Fast 50 provides a fascinating view of the evolving structure of the UK's tech sector, with software and internet businesses making up the bulk of the fastest growing companies. While their products and services are at the extreme cutting edge of global technology, it is important to note that it is not just technology that makes these companies leaders in their sectors – it is about the quality of the people and their Intellectual Property (IP).”
The Fast 50 list is compiled from Deloitte’s nominations submitted directly to the Fast 50, and public company database research. To qualify for the Fast 50, entrants must have had 2003 operating revenues of at least £34,000. Deloitte researchers examined financial statements to validate operating revenues.
“It’s a fantastic achievement to be listed again in Deloitte’s Fast 50,” said Bloxx CEO Eamonn Doyle. “This achievement is down to the talent, hard work and dedication of our staff that’s led to the development of world class web filtering technology which has been rapidly adopted around the world.”
Bloxx Tru-View Technology, developed at the company’s Livingston R&D centre, allows web pages to be accurately classified and filtered as users request them. This patented approach was the first commercially available web filter that could cope with the rapid growth of the Internet and the dynamic nature of Web 2.0 content. Tru-View Technology helps IT companies and organisations proactively manage users’ access to web content which might otherwise lower productivity, expose the organisation to risk and liability or pose a network security threat.
Mike McGregor, Deloitte technology partner for Scotland, comments, “this is great news for Bloxx and great news for the Scottish region. Being one of the fastest growing companies in the UK is an impressive accomplishment. We commend Bloxx for making the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 with a phenomenal growth rate over the past five years. It has proven that it has the vision and determination to grow in competitive conditions.”
The company boasts an impressive customer base of over one million users, from large corporations to educational institutions, including NHS Lothian, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and JCB. “The demand for web filtering is ever increasing, fuelled by growing concerns over staff and student productivity levels, network security-related issues and the legal implications surrounding inappropriate Internet use.” explains Doyle.
In addition to the Fast 50 hotlist, Bloxx is also included on the EMEA Fast 500. “It’s another credible stamp of approval for our solution as we continue to supply Bloxx technology to the worldwide market,” concludes Doyle.
