Dublin, 19th November 2013 – Today, Vodafone Ireland and Spotify have announced an exclusive partnership in the Irish market. From this Friday, 22nd November, Vodafone Ireland customers can enjoy instant access to a vast catalogue of music from across the globe with a Spotify Premium subscription included exclusively as part of Red and Pay as You Go mobile plans. The partnership will be supported by a significant €1.5m marketing campaign, also launching on Friday.

This new partnership means that Vodafone’s Red and Pay as You Go customers can enjoy instant, on-demand access to more than 20 million songs on the go with Spotify Premium. Spotify Premium lets music lovers enjoy music however they want. They can discover new music, create and share their own playlists, browse friends’ playlists, follow their favourite artists and celebrities or just relax and enjoy Spotify radio. With over 24 million active users in 32 countries, Spotify is the largest and most successful music streaming service of its kind.

Marcel de Groot, Consumer Director with Vodafone Ireland commented: “From this week and just in time for Christmas, our customers can enjoy music seamlessly on their phones wherever they go. People carry their phones everywhere so their life experiences, interests and connections are intrinsically linked to their smartphone. Customers have told us that they want access to the best and most relevant content, particularly music, on their devices whenever, wherever. Spotify is the most innovative music platform available in the market and now our customers in Ireland will exclusively have easy access to Spotify Premium on Vodafone’s new 4G-ready price plans.”

“We’re very pleased to announce this exclusive agreement with Vodafone Ireland” added Chris Bevington, Director of Global Strategic Partnerships for Spotify who was in Dublin for the announcement today. “We believe that the partnership will be welcomed by Irish music fans and will benefit the local music industry as a whole. Spotify partnering with companies like Vodafone increases revenue streams to the music industry, and so provides benefits for fans and artists alike. Streaming music subscribers are set to reach an all-time high in Ireland, as we’ve seen in other markets.”

Vodafone Red with Spotify customers can enjoy all the benefits of Spotify Premium, from €40 per month, which includes a worry-free data allowance[1]. Vodafone Pay as You Go[2] customers can enjoy Spotify Premium for €9.99 per month including an extra 250MB data (on top of existing data allowances).

Spotify has partnerships with more than 25 telecoms companies and ISPs worldwide.
