Ubuntu 10.10 Cloud Servers with full root access & 14 day free trial announced by CloudSigma

Zürich, Thursday 14 October 2010 – CloudSigma AG, a leading European provider of cloud servers is pleased to announce the launch of a new range of pre-installed Ubuntu 10.10 servers in its cloud. CloudSigma customers can now enjoy the new features of Ubuntu's new 'Maverick Meerkat' release in the form of instantly deployable high performing cloud servers.

Patrick Baillie, CEO commented 'We are committed to providing the widest range of choice to our customers and we work to rapidly incorporate popular software releases into our cloud servers. We've added three Ubuntu 10.10 versions: Server Edition, Desktop Edition and a special Ubuntu LAMP stack Server Edition installation. We expect these new instantly deployable cloud servers to be very popular with both existing and new users especially as they come with full root control and a 14 day free trial period for new users.'

Giving Power to the User
Each new Ubuntu 10.10 server can be added immediately by a user at the click of a button or via API call without provisioning delay. Full root access and control is granted to the customer allowing them to totally customise the server after initial deployment. Drives and servers can then be cloned allowing server clusters to easily be created using a customer's own customised template.

Will full software level control of cloud servers in the CloudSigma cloud, protecting direct server access is 100% managed by the user. This allows users to implement their own security policies on their servers with regards to operating system, application access and networking firewalls. Other cloud computing platforms just aren't able to provide the level of control that CloudSigma's offering achieves.

Unlike some large cloud computing platforms, users control when and how to update the software on their cloud servers. Patching of underlying software resources is a leading cause of server outages and system failures for those running cloud infrastructure where root control is maintained by the cloud vendor.

Patrick Baillie continued 'One of the most common criticisms of cloud computing is the loss of control that many users experience. These concerns are very real and often borne of negative practical experiences. Our platform addresses this issue head on. By giving control to the user we allow our customers to manage and secure their own computing. Our experience is that customers want this level of control over their cloud servers and don't feel comfortable with the mixed messages of other vendors.'

High security cloud servers
CloudSigma recently announced an all new cloud security suite for managing and securing cloud infrastructure. The new range of Ubuntu 10.10 cloud servers will be covered by these security management tools giving customers peace of mind and a high degree of control over web and API access.

CloudSigma has adopted best practice measures such as two-stage web logins, IP white lists, suspicious activity alerts and more to give its customers peace of mind. In many cases more control and visibility over their computing security compared with traditional dedicated hardware solutions.
