Verismic today announces that Tullow Oil, the independent oil and gas exploration and production group has deployed Verismic’s PC Power Management software to significantly reduce the power usage of its PCs and laptops worldwide.  The adoption of Verismic Power Manager supports Tullow Oil’s overall business strategy to reduce the company’s carbon emissions and support its Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) policy.

Tullow Oil has implemented Verismic Power Manager software across all of its 2,800 PCs in use at multiple sites across 25 countries in Europe, South America, Africa and Asia. Tullow Oil is now able to create a baseline of energy consumption and then implement power policies to reduce its IT energy usage.  The IT team can generate reports, detailing power usage of individual workstations worldwide, and enforce optimum energy efficiency across the organization.

Andy Harper, Device Management Analyst, Tullow Oil, explains,”Verismic Power Manager gives us a unique insight into power usage behaviour of our devices whether located at head office in the UK, on a remote oil rig in sub-Saharan Africa or a vessel in the Atlantic Ocean.  It is set to give us significant cost savings with a reduction in power usage and its advanced functionality can detect if an employee is interacting with a PC or out at a meeting; whilst at the same time avoiding any shut down on workstations that are running modelling or monitoring software.

Verismic Power Manager allows us to manage our IT environment, whilst also supporting Tullow Oil’s EHS policy.  We chose Verismic Power Manager because it is ‘best of breed’ and its functionality is way above those of its competitors, particularly in its ability to locate PC’s across our wide network and apply multiple rules dependent on each workstation’s requirements.”

Ashley Leonard, CEO of Verismic Software comments, “In light of the renewed effort around the Government’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, it is vital that public and private sector organisations continue to improve their energy efficiency and reduce emissions.  Verismic Software has a wide customer base in varied sectors, so we are able to provide a deep understanding of IT infrastructure and guide companies like Tullow Oil to achieve their goals in the reduction of IT energy consumption”.
