T-Mobile Austria Selects Openmind to Power A2P Messaging
« Posted: May 14, 2014, 06:53:14 PM »

Wednesday, May 14th, 2014, Dublin, Ireland: Openmind Networks today announced that it has been selected in a competitive tender with T-Mobile Austria to deliver a new Application 2 Person (A2P) Gateway to power the operator’s A2P messaging.

Openmind succeeded, in a tender which included ten other vendors, because its A2P Gateway offered both superior technical and commercial benefits to T-Mobile Austria. The project to deploy Openmind’s A2P Gateway is now underway and the launch is expected to take place later this year.

T-Mobile Austria made the decision to replace its existing legacy A2P gateway last year, launching a Request for Proposal (RFP) to find an improved solution.

“We chose Openmind’s A2P Gateway based on technical and commercial merit, but also because of the leading position that Openmind has carved out in the messaging space,” said Rüdiger Köster, CTO of T-Mobile Austria. “We are very excited to complete the deployment of the new platform later this year. We look forward to beginning to experience the benefits that Openmind’s technology can unlock in our network”.

The T-Mobile Austria deal marks the latest in a series of major customer wins for Openmind, who are now the fastest growing messaging infrastructure vendor in the marketplace. T-Mobile Austria said that the Openmind A2P Gateway impressed them as it possessed the ability to process high levels of increased messaging traffic in short time periods. The operator also said the platform’s robustness and high level of security were a factor in its decision.

“We’re delighted to be working in conjunction with T-Mobile Austria to help it deliver a first-class messaging experience with our A2P Gateway,” said Alex Duncan, CEO of Openmind. “It was a fantastic feeling to come through a challenging RFP process against a very strong field of competitors. We now look forward to supporting T-Mobile Austria’s strategic business goals well into the future”.

Openmind’s communication platform, Traffic Control, powers over one billion messages every day in 120 installations worldwide. The platform is a fully integrated solution which enables mobile operators to consolidate numerous legacy systems onto a single platform. It comprises an SMSC, MMSC, RCS, USSD Gateway, Application Gateway and Spam Filter; with advanced business reporting logic and customer care interfaces on-board. Traffic Control’s built-in SIP interface – an IP SM-GW – (which was also included in the T-Mobile purchase) enables the launch of IMS based messaging services in the future.
