Abingdon, UK – 30 November 2011 – Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, has announced a global contest on Facebook dedicated to the Kaspersky ONE Transantarctic Expedition. First prize is a Sony Tablet, an elegant Android tablet with a unique set of features, protected by Kaspersky Tablet Security. 15 runners-up will receive copies of Kaspersky ONE*. The winners’ profile pictures will be printed on a banner that will greet Felicity at the end of her journey.

The Kaspersky ONE Transantarctic Expedition sees famous British explorer, Felicity Aston, making a 1700km journey across Antarctica to become the first woman in history to cross the world’s most inhospitable continent alone. The expedition will see Felicity trek from the Ross Ice Shelf through the Transantarctic Mountains, along a route never skied before, to the South Pole and then across the Polar Plateau to the opposite coast at the Ronne Ice Shelf.

“I am both excited and daunted by the challenge ahead, but consider it a privilege to be heading across Antarctica alone. The fact that people around the globe will be supporting me and following my journey is a really important source of motivation for me on the ice. It makes me want to do my best each day,” says Felicity Aston.

The contest on Kaspersky Lab’s Facebook page is live and will run until 16 December. All Facebook users can take part by signing up and sending Felicity some words of encouragement and support. You can enter the contest here.

When Felicity reaches the South Pole, she will get a banner with the faces of those who have been actively following and supporting her. These will be the first faces she will have seen for over a month on her solo journey.

The entire route will be followed live on an interactive map. The site also contains information about the expedition route, Felicity Aston, and Kaspersky Lab, which helped make the project possible.
