Cordys Process Factory enables rapid mashup of business processes in the cloud
London, United Kingdom, and Putten, The Netherlands, 13 September 2010 – Telegraph Media Group, the multi-media news publisher of the UK’s biggest selling quality newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, has selected the Cordys Platform to orchestrate its multiple cloud services and applications.
Since its industry-first website launch in 1994, Telegraph Media Group has put digital at the heart of its business. TMG was named Digital Publisher of the Year in 2009 at the Association of Online Publishers’ annual awards. In the last three years TMG has embarked on an equally innovative Technology transformation, becoming a champion of Software as a Service (SaaS) and on demand platforms with the likes of Salesforce.com, SuccessFactors and Amazon Web Services; and becoming one of the first UK companies to roll-out Google Mail and Apps across its business.
Toby Wright, CTO, Telegraph Media Group, comments: “With our previous structure, a significant percentage of our IT budget and resource was allocated to maintenance and support. By making greater use of cloud platforms for back-office IT and revenue generating products and services we are now on target to reach our goal of having the majority of our resource focused on technology and business transformation projects.”
With multiple SaaS applications and Google Apps deployed, TMG recognized the need to link these applications quickly and easily, by creating processes and applications that span these disparate SaaS solutions, without the need for development or significant IT resources. TMG also wanted to be able to take more control, without having to constantly go back to its SaaS vendors for further functionality and enhancements.
Cordys Process Factory will give TMG the ability to rapidly create processes and applications in the cloud, across all of its SaaS applications, at very low development costs. Cordys brings all the disparate Cloud applications together, integrates these with existing backoffice software and enables the business to create value immediately from the Cloud. This process and application orchestration solution helps TMG to rapidly compose situational applications (MashApps®) to instantly meet specific business needs.
TMG will use the Cordys Process Factory to integrate and build new cloud applications. The integration capabilities with Salesforce.com will also be leveraged to bring customer data right into the enterprise.
Toby Wright added: “Cordys Process Factory provides one of the most rapid, business user friendly and complete environments for Cloud application development. The Cordys platform reduces the time from “idea to market” very significantly which helps us to answer new market conditions faster and cheaper.”

Cordys’ partnership with Google and the integration with Google Apps was an important aspect of the selection.
Jan Baan, Cordys Founder & Chief Innovation Officer said: “The digital channels are the future of media companies such as Telegraph Media Group. The entire IT strategy should have one single objective which is growing the digital business. The Cordys platform allows TMG to adopt Cloud computing faster and increase the speed of change which is required to meet the ever-changing demands of today’s digital consumers.”
Peter Karsten, VP Sales UK, Cordys, concluded: “The Software as a Service (SaaS) model we have developed enables business users to build and run their own MashApps® by simply combining standard business applications such as Google apps and commercially available services, with web services from anywhere, with the same levels of security as traditional platform implementations. Instead of buying software licenses and the associated supporting infrastructure, users of the Cordys Process Factory™ are able to access, use, improve and innovate their business processes and services On-Demand, at any time and any place.”
