The Tech Trailblazers Awards today announced it has doubled its industry partnerships and increased startup entries by 17% compared to last year. These increases indicate the enterprise tech startup community is embracing the Tech Trailblazers’ new cooperative, online and reward-based approach to technology awards.

The Tech Trailblazers Awards gained momentum in 2013, doubling its already-impressive list of partners to include new prizes and/or mentoring relationships from the likes of Morgan Stanley, GigaOM, Innovation Warehouse and GSMA Mobile World Congress, to name just a few. Another significant new partner this year is IP EXPO.The collaboration with Imago Techmedia has created theFutures Den at IP EXPO, a community and networking space focused on start-ups in enterprise technology. Two of last year’s  Tech Trailblazers winners – Peter Hopton from Iceotope (winner of the Sustainable IT Trailblazers) and Ed Macnair from Intermedia (formerly SaaSID – the Cloud Trailblazers winner) – are presenting lightning talks about their trailblazing success at the Futures Den this week.

Industry buzz around the Tech Traiblazers Awards is increasing, and the world’s enterprise tech startups are taking notice. The awards received 17% more entries in 2013 than in 2012. Significantly, the awards saw a marked increase in entries originiating from outside the traditional technology center of the Silicon Valley. The number of entries from Europe, the Middle East and Africa increased dramatically.

Judges are now evaluating the Tech Trailblazers entries. The public vote will begin shortly after the shortlist is announced in early November and winning companies will be crowned 2014 Tech Trailblazers in December.

The categories with the biggest increases in submissions were:
Big Data with a 117% increase
Infosecurity with a 67% increase
Virtualization with a 50% increase, and
Mobile with an increase of 33%
Participation from European countries increased by 130%, now making up 27% of the entrants
North America still makes up 66% of the entrants
Entries from Middle East and Africa increased by 50%
The next stage of the Tech Trailblazers Awards is the judging, which will see the expert panel determine the shortlist, which will go to a public vote in early November.
