London, 10 October 2013 – The CDN World Summit has successfully reinforced its position as the world’s leading CDN event in the market, as hundreds of visitors filled the Thistle Marble Arch Hotel in London last week. Having grown continuously for the past four years, the event continues to enter a new chapter as the content delivery industry converges and CDN technology evolves.
The event showcased international representation from speakers and transformational players, who provided keynotes and participated in panel discussions, which aimed to address the content delivery challenges and offer ways to overcome these. This included Paul Larbey, CEO Velocix, Alcatel-Lucent; Herbet Damker, Senior Expert of Group Technology at Deutsche Telecom; Marina Kalkanis, Head of Core Services – Programmes on Demand, BBC; Bo Olofsson, Director - Product Research, BSkyB; Marla Shapiro, Content Director, Voddler; and Charles Hasek, Principal Architect, Video Systems, Time Warner Cable. The theme of the conference and exhibition was undoubtedly centred on the advancements within the CDN ecosystem, as highlighted by its programme which fell over two days. Day One focused on CDNs, the Cloud and network virtualisation, while Day Two centred on content delivery business models. The event also included the Cloud TV Summit which explored and defined cloud TV and looked at ways to optimise CDN and cloud content delivery, and included a special session, hosted by Alcatel-Lucent, which gave visitors insight into video delivery and consumption.
Following the success of the global event, the organisers are now looking ahead to CDN Asia, which takes place on 21-22 January 2014 in Singapore. Following feedback from sponsors and speakers, the regional event will focus on creating partnerships and business models in order to deliver excellent quality of experience and data-heavy video content over internet networks.
CDN Asia’s agenda promises exclusive insight from a stellar speaker and panellist line-up that already includes Liang Jie, Technical Director, China Telecom; Marc Halbfinger, Chief Executive Officer, PCCW GLOBAL; JinHyo Park, Head of Access Network Lab, SK Telecom; Suresh Sidhu, Chief Corporate and Operations Officer, Celcom Axiata Berhad; Gary Traver, Media Director, Telstra; and Nigel Harper, Director, FOX International Channels.
