MEYREUIL, March 6th , 2012- StarChip®, experts in designing and qualifying Smart Card ICs announced today that it is opening a new office in Shanghai China, the first part of a multi-phase plan to expand its operation and sales to China.
With its strong position in electronics manufacturing, China is poised to play a significant role in the semiconductor industry, therefore one of the keys to global competitiveness and growth of StarChip® lies in the creation of a strong and flexible manufacturing network in China backed by StarChip® local presence.
“Expanding our operation to have engineers based in Shanghai is the logical first step to sustain the growing activity with our manufacturing partners in China” , said Christian Dupuy, COO of StarChip®.
“We are proud to have Mr. Keanwai Chan as Chief Representative of the Office. Mr. Chan has a successful track record of customer interface activities for several well-known Chinese Wafer Fabs.
He will be in charge of managing both product engineering and quality control locally. StarChip will be able then to provide a clear structure and continuous quality of our products and services throughout the whole supply chain.”
StarChip® continues to expand its design and industrialization capabilities to meet the growing demand driven by SIM and M2M controllers’ success. StarChip® products portfolio is expanding and requiring more and more resources for product engineering and quality monitoring. In addition, StarChip® continues to work closely with customers, foundries, and backend subcontractors to reconfigure and improve the efficiency of the value chain to better control cost drivers and achieve a competitive advantage.
