Providing Assured Cloud Services to the UK Public Sector
London – February 20th 2012 – Skyscape Cloud Services Limited, the easy to adopt, easy to use and easy to leave assured Cloud Services Company, today announced that it has been awarded the G-Cloud Framework from the Government Procurement Service, an executive agency of the Cabinet Office.
This framework agreement will allow Skyscape to supply a wide range of Cloud Services to the UK Public Sector who will benefit from lower costs, reduced procurement times, a simplified tendering process, and a genuinely competitive marketplace.
“The G-Cloud framework represents a significant step change in the delivery of IT infrastructure and services. The UK Government has stated it’s intention to engage with the private sector in an entirely different way, on a different level and with transformational effect. Clearly the G-Cloud initiative is one part of this reform and Skyscape is genuinely proud to be part of the new, agile, best of breed G-Cloud program”, said Phil Dawson, CEO of Skyscape.
Chris Chant, G-Cloud Programme Director said “The Public Sector will benefit immediately from this framework allowing them to adopt a range of Cloud services at reduced costs and improved agility without compromising performance or security. Costs that were previously averaging between £900 to £1500 per server per month, will be reduced to £150 or lower.”
Dawson, added “From our recent UK Public Sector Cloud Predictions 2012 survey, we know that 69% of respondents believe the Cloud can deliver savings of 20% or more in ICT Project costs. We believe greater will be achieved, with contracts that are easy to leave and with known termination costs”.
“Skyscape has been able to create a highly compelling business model built around the technologies and capabilities of VCE as well as Skyscape’s Alliance Partners,” said Mark Gorman, Director, Public Sector, at EMC UK. ”We look forward to continuing to work closely with Skyscape to build out their cloud-based solution, and to helping them bring that expertise to market in the months ahead.”
Gorman continues, “Cloud innovation in the way IT infrastructure is delivered is key to truly agile, efficient government IT, paving the way for a new class of web services, both within Government and for the British public.”
Under the initial agreement, a total of seventeen Compute-as-a-Service, Storage-as-a-Service and Software-as-a-Service products at differing Impact Levels will be available, helping to transform the provision of IT services into a lean, elastic, assured, green utility by providing a genuine on-demand cloud computing service.
