Paris, France, 1 April 2011 - AeroGRID has signed a data distribution agreement with Norsk Eiendomsinformasjon (NE) of Norway to distribute the aerial imagery of the Norwegian Mapping Authority (NMA-Statens Kartverk) via its WMS server. NE Norway is the fourth government to join the AeroGRID partnership after IGN France, CNIG Spain and NLS Finland. Opening up the growing AeroGRID image library via WMS, brings it within the reach of a wide range of professional disciplines including civil engineering, cartography, land management, agriculture and environmental studies.
The Norwegian Mapping Authority has nationwide orthophoto coverage (385,000km²), which brings the total area of data available via AeroGRID’s WMS server to 2.6million km² (1 million square miles). This unparalleled collection of high quality, high resolution data is now available to anyone with a broadband connection via WMS enabled software such as CAD and GIS.
Hardanger Fjord“We are delighted to be able to offer the aerial imagery of another Scandinavian country via our WMS servers,” said Miles Taylor, AeroGRID General Manager. “The NMA data is significant because it shows that AeroGRID is not confined solely to European Union data and that we are working to provide a truly Pan-European web server for the professional user. We believe that AeroGRID provides the best source of European aerial imagery currently available.”
