Award recognises QuickPlay Media’s innovative OpenVideo media management platform for mobile TV and video services
London, 30th September 2008: QuickPlay Media, the premier solutions provider for mobile TV and video services, was named the winner of the Best Video Service Provider category for its OpenVideoTM media management platform at Mobile Entertainment (ME) magazine’s third annual ME Awards. Winners were recognised in a ceremony held late last week in London.
Over the last few years, the ME Awards have firmly established themselves as the biggest mobile content awards in Europe, celebrating success and innovation in the thriving mobile content sector. QuickPlay was recognised for its development and expansion over the last twelve months, which has seen them partner with Amobee Media Systems to power the launch of Vodafone Italy’s FreeVideo service and develop key customer relationships to provide mobile TV and video services for leading mobile operators, including AT&T, Alltel, Cricket Communications and Virgin Mobile Canada.
“We are thrilled to be recognised by the ME Awards for the market leading capabilities of our OpenVideo media management platform,” stated Wayne Purboo, CEO and co-founder, QuickPlay Media. “With the introduction of flat-rate data plans, a new breed of multimedia devices and a wider selection of content, we are beginning to see an increase in adoption of mobile TV and video services in every corner of the world. In fact, analysts are now forecasting that mobile TV and video will generate more revenue than mobile music and mobile games combined, and will be worth more than €4 billion globally by 2011*. QuickPlay will enable our customers to realise this projected revenue with solutions that make it easy and efficient for them to offer, and to drive adoption of, high quality mobile TV and video services,” Purboo added.
“Mobile video and entertainment services are at the forefront of mobile innovation – for both consumers and the industry itself. This award recognises QuickPlay’s high quality service offering and the resulting success of their customers introducing mobile video services powered by QuickPlay,” said Tim Green, executive editor of Mobile Entertainment magazine.
The ME Awards ceremony, which rewards creativity, innovation and those who work in the mobile sector, attracted nearly 400 guests from over 120 companies in media, technology and entertainment around the world.
