Secure I.T. Environments Ltd, one of the UK’s leading designers and builders of modular data centres, has today announced that it has won the tender process for a new data centre at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

The new data centre, which will have a footprint of 80 square metres, will support the hospital in the delivery of essential services to support patient care, and services provided throughout the Trust. Inline with the Trust’s commitment to energy efficiency the data centre has been designed to deliver the best possible Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratio, lowering running costs for the Trust and its overall environmental impact.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is an established 488 bed general hospital, which together with 12 cots in a recently refurbished Neonatal Intensive Care Unit provides healthcare services to West and North Norfolk in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

Mike West, Head of ICT at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust said, “The new data centre will be an essential part of the Trust’s IT infrastructure, improving and expanding the services we provide to the hospital. We are pleased to be awarding this project to Secure I.T. Environments.”

Chris Wellfair, projects director at Secure I.T. Environments added, “We are pleased to have won this project and be working with the Trust to deliver this critical part of their IT infrastructure, bringing to the project the experience of working with 15 other NHS Trusts in recent years.”
