Today Projectplace, the European leader in online project collaboration, launched a new Project Overview with an integrated feature for facilitating conversations between project members. The new tool, enabling simplified discussions and transparent file sharing, is inspired by the Social Project Management approach and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
With this enhancement, Projectplace enables project members to visualise the key elements of a project and gives room to discuss them freely on the Project Overview. The underlying goal for this product release has been to facilitate easier communication between project members regarding the project’s goals, decisions, status updates and required changes.
Projectplace goes social
The new conversation feature allows team members to communicate in a quick and very visible way similar to Twitter or Facebook. It enables a new level of interaction between project members. Features include:
• @reference and notifications via email
Direct a conversation to a certain member by using @reference. People involved in a discussion thread can choose to be notified via email whenever a new comment is posted.
• #tag
Filter and search conversations through tagging relevant words and phrases. By using this function, the team will gradually define important concepts and create a common understanding of the project and its purpose.
• Previews of documents, videos and images
Attach photos or embed videos from YouTube and Vimeo. Share and discuss documents and get quick feedback from team members.
These social project management features are designed for professional use and exclusively accessible for internal and external project members.

“The new conversations feature has been a booster to our project at Vopak, since it allows a more natural communication flow. We are actually using it to develop an international Management Trainee group, which means we needed a tool able to attract the generation Y attention and give it a platform to use its full potential,” said Projectplace customer Kleber Bonitese, Vopak Brasil S.A.
Projectplace customer Bengt Næspe, Arkidata AS agreed: “The new Project Overview is great, and the communication tool is a great supplement to team collaboration within projects.”
