London 19 April 2011: Damian Milkins, President, ControlCircle has successfully been selected as a London & South regional finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Milkins is co-founder of ControlCircle, the leading data centre and managed services provider which he started in 2001. The company provides managed and cloud services to enterprises and e-commerce sites.
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year is the prestigious business award for entrepreneurs and celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses; recognising them through regional, national and global awards programmes in more than 140 cities and in more than 50 nations.
Damian MilkinsIn the UK three regional programmes take place with those winners competing for the Overall UK Entrepreneur of The Year title. The UK overall winner then goes on to represent the UK at the World Entrepreneur of The Year awards in May in Monte Carlo.
Judges will be looking at applicants’ entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, strategic direction, leadership team building capabilities, financial performance, national or global impact and corporate social responsibility.
Damian Milkins said: “Being selected as a regional finalist is a great honour, especially considering the number and quality of the individuals participating. This award not only recognises my achievements, but also the team effort that has gone into growing the success of the company. I am looking forward to the next stage of the competition.”
The next stage of the programme is the London & South region judge’s reception on 19 May 2010. This event provides Ernst & Young’s independent judging panel with an opportunity to meet and interview the finalists prior to selecting the regional winners.
The judges are business leaders and key influencers - the panel will be chaired by Ian Burke (Chairman, The Rank Group plc) and also includes: Richard Moon (Chairman, ACAL plc); Dr John Roberts CBE (Chairman, BlackRock New Energy Investment Trust); Helen Calcraft (Executive Chairman, Dare); Nick Jenkins (Chairman, Moonpig.com); Fiona Timothy, (CEO, Calyx Group plc); Chris Cole (Chief Executive, WSP Group plc); Adele Blakebrough MBE (CEO, Social Business Trust); Richard Green (CEO, Ubisense) and Dr Joe Schull (MD, Warburg Pincus International LLC).
The regional winners will be announced at an awards dinner which will take place on 30 June. The award winners will go on to represent London & South at the UK final on the 3 October in London.
