Presenter of BBC Click to present ConnectedWorld.TV Awards
« Posted: September 07, 2011, 08:40:27 PM »

[London 7 September 2011] Spencer Kelly, presenter of BBC World News technology programme Click, is to present the inaugural ConnectedWorld.TV Awards.

Celebrating the creativity of broadcasters, independent producers, technology companies and consumer electronics manufacturers pioneering the business of ‘content everywhere’, the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards will be presented at a gala dinner on Monday 12 September. The Awards ceremony at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam is on the penultimate evening of IBC2011 – the leading global tradeshow for professionals in broadcast media and entertainment.

With more than fifteen years experience in radio and television, Spencer has been a presenter on the BBC’s flagship technology programme since 2006. Broadcast to more than 200 countries, Click explores the impact of new technologies on the lives of people all over the world. Spencer joined the BBC in 2003 as one of five ‘iPresenters’ recruited to pioneer new forms of interactive broadcasting using the web, digital television and digital radio.

“As a broadcaster and journalist, working across the world on a range of technology issues, I have seen the life changing impact technology is having across the globe. We are at a really exciting time in technology - devices as small as your phone and as large as your entire house are connecting to the Net, and that is unleashing a world of possibilities.  I would like to wish each and every finalist good luck in the 2011 Connected World.tv Awards”.

"I am delighted that Spencer Kelly, from BBC’s Click, is presenting the first ConnectedWorld.TV Awards, said Saleha Williams, Executive Commercial Director, BPL Broadcast Ltd. “Spencer has a rich understanding of the convergent media space and how it affects consumers in a multi-platform content delivery arena. The very best of luck to all our finalists".

More than 150 entries were received for the 2011 ConnectedWorld.TV Awards from organisations in 28 countries across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas. An international panel of judges selected finalists in 15 Award categories.  A poll of readers of ConnectedWorld.TV decided the winners in three further categories.

The winning entries highlight the many exciting developments arising from the growing use of broadband internet – both fixed and mobile - as an alternative distribution channel for TV and video content.
