Latest version advances innovative at-a-glance ribbon and adds team-based capacity planning in support of agile teams
Reading, UK – Nov. 13, 2013 - Planview® announces the newest release of its award-winning portfolio and resource management software. Building upon Planview Enterprise® 11, released earlier this year, version 11.1 brings enhancements to the user experience to further simplify access to key portfolio decision metrics. In addition, the release introduces team-based capacity planning, which enables an integrated planning view for organisations utilising a mix of agile and traditional project management work methodologies.
User Experience
Consistent with version 11, Planview Enterprise 11.1 continues to advance the user experience with a focus on ease of navigation and access to portfolio information via the at-a-glance ribbon and interactive tiles. Planview Enterprise 11.1 dramatically simplifies the process of building tiles via an end user-driven, wizard-based approach. This new capability makes it easy for any user to leverage the power of the ribbon to access the metrics most important to them. The release also enhances the ability for users to share tiles across the organisation.
Planview Enterprise 11.1 advances a new “My Planview” functionality providing users with a centralised access point to their favorite portfolios and decision metrics. “My Planview” leverages the built-in favourites capabilities to automatically build this personalised cross-portfolio view. A new Analyze tile in “My Planview” enables users to create visualisations and charts across portfolios.
Team-based Capacity Planning
Increasingly, organisations are applying multiple work methodologies to execute against their plans, including traditional project management and agile development. New team-based capacity planning capabilities in Planview Enterprise 11.1 support this trend by allowing organisations to build an integrated plan that incorporates capacity by teams, roles, skills, and resources. The functionality has been designed to provide the flexibility to support team-based capacity in different forms including points, ideal person days, and more.
“Business agility is a critical success factor for today’s organisations. The ability to plan and execute across agile and traditional methodologies is vital,” said Catherine Connor, product manager at Rally Software. “The team-based capacity planning functionality in Planview version 11.1 provides the option to recognise individuals as part of a team rather than an individual contributor, a key tenet of including agile teams in your strategic planning."
Comprehensive Analytics and Reporting
Building upon the market-leading introduction of in-memory, big data technology in Planview Enterprise 11, this product release offers more flexibility and simplifies the ability to dynamically display large, complex datasets. Improved visualisations are supported including enhanced bubble charts.
“Planview Enterprise 11.1 reflects our continued commitment to customer–driven development to advance the portfolio and resource management discipline,” said Louise Allen, vice president of product management at Planview. “As our cloud-based solution becomes the dominant way customers deploy Planview Enterprise, we are reinforcing this commitment by accelerating our pace of development and releasing semi-annually.”
In conjunction with this announcement, Planview will attend the Innovation Technology Summit today to accept the Ventana Research 2013 Technology Innovation Award for CIO IT Innovation.
