Perry Offer, CEO of Dialogue Group, believes that Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) need to pursue a vision that is focussed on 100% on-net legitimate A2P SMS traffic.

Over the past 12 months Dialogue has been actively encouraging MNOs to eliminate A2P fraud from aggregators, but Offer claims that MNOs could be doing more to help clean up the A2P market.

In this exclusive video interview, Offer explains that one of the top priorities that MNOs need to look at is the interconnect agreements that they have with one another to terminate P2P (Person to Person) SMS traffic, as these links are also being used to terminate A2P messaging traffic. This can result in MNOs not knowing what percentage of this traffic is A2P SMS as it is being disguised as P2P. SIM farming is another area that MNOs should be focusing on as this is also damaging revenues and can lead to poor customer service.

“MNOs should also review the number of partners they give direct connections to, emphasising that fewer is better, especially in the current climate where there is a belief among MNOs that more connections equals more money, which simply isn’t true.”

Offer says: “Day-to-day, it’s about creating a situation where your network is under control because you’ve taken steps to monetise your traffic via ethical tools and that you’ve collaborated with partners who have a principled code of conduct in terms of how they do business with you.”

As a co-ordinator of A2P SMS monetisation services, Dialogue is an honest broker who already works with many of the major MNOs to help them accelerate and sustain the monetisation of their A2P messaging traffic.
