Shenzhen HGI Open Forum on 18 June to feature multiple vendor smart living demonstrations

13 June 2013 Two of Asia’s heavyweight communications service providers, China Unicom Research Institute and PCCW, are among the companies which will discuss the future of broadband services, including smart home services, at HGI’s forum next week in Shenzhen.

HGI, the leading worldwide membership organisation for setting requirements for digital communications architecture within the home, is hosting the meeting to provide an opportunity for its members to interact with the Chinese and regional broadband ecosystem.

Arm Corporation, a key HGI member company, is actively assisting with the organisation of the Shenzhen Forum. “ARM is pleased to provide local support to this important industry event in Shenzhen. ARM is an active participant in the HGI community, which helps technology and system vendors achieve success in the worldwide market for the digital home,” said Charlene Marini, vice president, Marketing, Embedded Segment, ARM.

“The ARM open partnership approach means that we work alongside leading Chinese companies in the creation of exciting new home technologies. There will be many interesting discussions at this forum since China is such an exciting and innovative area for digital home technologies to flourish through collaboration.”

HGI operators' vision for Smart Home services and also the challenges for very high speed broadband will also be discussed during the open forum. Hans-Werner Bitzer, Vice-Chairman of HGI Board and the spokesperson from Deutsche-Telecom, said the open forum aims to provide an opportunity to identify common aspects amongst broadband requirements of HGI service providers and broadband service providers in China.

“My presentation will outline HGI’s vision for smart home services. We have a world class line up for the summit so I expect a fruitful event whereby existing HGI members can learn from operators in Asia and in return we can set out our position on the Smart Home,” said Bitzer.

HGI’s event will also include demonstrations on a number of new smart home technologies from Mele, Binatone, Visual On, STM and Quanta Computer.

The Shenzhen HGI Open Forum is free to attend for industry representatives; however the number of seats is limited so prior registration is required. To attend the HGI Open Forum, including a complimentary lunch provided by HGI, email [email protected] with your name, position, company, and contact details. These details may also be emailed in the Chinese language to [email protected].
