Olive Communications, the UK’s fastest growing business communications provider, last night won the Enterprise Convergence Solution Award at the Comms Business Awards 2014. Olive’s award winning entry was based on its work for BPP, Europe's largest specialist professional education, training and publishing provider.

To meet BPP’s needs to enable flexible working both in the UK and abroad, Olive proposed a converged solution to enable employees to maintain the same level of productivity wherever they are. Firstly, BPP were able to obtain a commercially compelling tariff on the Vodafone network, halving their existing call costs, as a result of Olive’s Platinum Partner status.

Olive then facilitated the introduction of Mitel softphones, enabling BPP’s growing pool of remote contact centre workers (1,200 hot desks at 9 sites) to make and receive calls using a remote PC or laptop as if they were inside the corporate network, without needing a desktop phone. BPP employees are now able to take advantage of other features such as call recording, all through the Company’s secure network. Thanks to its seamless integration, the call centre has successfully maintained customer service level scores.

The solution also integrates Microsoft Lync to provide BPP with a consistent experience across Windows PCs, Windows Phone, iOS, Mac, and Android smartphones. The system unifies voice and video calls, Lync Meetings (i.e. conference calls), presence (i.e. a worker’s status online/offline/busy etc.) and instant messaging.

Independently judged, the Comms Business Awards are designed to genuinely recognise excellence and star quality within the Channel. The awards acknowledge those individuals and companies in the Channel including resellers, vendors, distributors and service providers who have excelled in their success and development over the past year. The Enterprise Converged Solution category was judged on entries containing case studies of projects for customers of over 500 employees.
