Occam Networks And NYnet Win Top Industry Award For Role In Pioneering Open Access Network

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. and LONDON, United Kingdom –– June 8, 2010 - Broadband access solutions provider, Occam Networks, and network operator NYnet, walked away with an award for Business Service Innovation at last night’s prestigious Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards.

Occam Networks and NYnet won the award for Open Access Business Service for their joint involvement in deploying a pioneering next generation network at Scarborough Business Park, England, one of the first in the UK to offer bandwidth over 100 Mbps to its customers.

The awards, given to the most innovative projects worldwide, are designed to celebrate collaboration between operators and vendors in the telecommunications industry. Russ Sharer, Marketing VP of Occam Networks collected the award, he said:

“We are thrilled to have been recognised for playing an integral role in one of the most innovative open access networks in the world. We also congratulate NYnet, who have ensured that the highest standards of broadband capability continue to be achieved at Scarborough Business Park.”

Occam Networks’ BLC 6322 GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) high-port density FTTP blade, handles traffic to and from the business park, with the ability to offer a full array of advanced services, including IPTV, making it ideally suited to future entertainment requirements.

Scarborough Business Park is operated by NYnet, an organisation formed by North Yorkshire County Council, with funding from the UK Government regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and the European Union.

In presenting the awards, Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business, commented: “This is the fourth time we’ve run our Innovation Awards and each year we’ve seen that the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to its customers worldwide. Congratulations to all the award winners.

“The industry is seeing a wave of innovation which is making a huge difference — to the companies working in the industry and to all of us in business and as consumers. They are making such a difference to the world. We want to celebrate what they are doing.”

Occam Networks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: OCNW) a leading broadband access supplier offering multi-service access platform (MSAP) solutions based on pure packet technologies, launched into EMEA last September, and has since established a reseller network across the region.
