NGI and Cambium Networks Drive Wireless Broadband across Italy
« Posted: April 30, 2013, 08:13:05 PM »

Milan and Ashburton, England, 30 April 2013 – Leading broadband, virtual hosting and value-added specialist, NGI, and Cambium Networks™, a global provider of IP wireless access and transport solutions, today strengthened their collaboration to deploy EOLOwave access technology throughout Italy. This announcement comes at a time when NGI has just named Cambium Networks as its “Best Partner for 2013”, with plans to deliver wireless broadband innovation for residents and businesses across the country.

Working collaboratively, Cambium Networks™ has already provided NGI with its portfolio of Canopy® Point-to-Multipoint (PMP) solutions, which offer the bandwidth, flexibility, ease of installation, intuitive operation and cost-effectiveness that make high-speed broadband accessible. With ambitious goals set for the coming years, NGI needed to identify a technology partner which they could work together with to develop a wireless network infrastructure capable of meeting the high connectivity requirements that the EOLO network promises, including performance, scalability, and reliability for data, voice and video services.

Luca Spada, Founder and CEO of NGI, says: “Our awards recognise the vital role that our vendors play in our ongoing growth. This award represents the commitment demonstrated by Cambium Networks and since partnering, our relationship and product offering has evolved to meet diverse customer demands and industry requirements.”

"In the coming years we will strengthen our position as a leader by offering innovative solutions and services, capable of adequately responding to the growing needs of the market. Our roadmap requires the presence of a reliable and competent technology partner and Cambium Networks has the expertise required to help us achieve our goals."

The two companies will work together to develop EOLOwave so that it offers ultra-broadband 30Mb/s speeds, which have been set as a key goal by the European Digital Agenda. The EOLOwave platform has been designed by NGI and Cambium Networks using the PMP 450 infrastructure to further improve efficiency and management related to the uses specifically required by the EOLO network.

New algorithms have been created to optimise the usability of the device (antenna/radio) to deliver a reliable, ultra-fast broadband connection. Software solutions have also been implemented to allow the product to easily integrate into the EOLO network, particularly focussing on management monitoring.

"Our relationship with NGI is a genuine partnership with the development of innovative technologies at the heart of it. The fact that Italy’s largest wireless operator has chosen to work with us speaks volumes about the quality of our products and the expertise that we can provide. This is an exciting time for broadband in Europe so we look forward to working together with NGI and providing their customers with the wireless connectivity they need for the future,” added Atul Bhatnagar, President and CEO of Cambium Networks.
