« Posted: March 19, 2013, 11:10:05 PM »

SATELLITE 2013 Conference, Washington DC, and SINT-NIKLAAS, Belgium, 19 March 2013 The World Teleport Association (WTA) has awarded satellite specialist Newtec’s M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator with the prestigious accolade of Teleport Technology of the Year 2013. Newtec was praised by judges for providing the greatest contribution to the business and operational success of teleports by lowering costs, increasing efficiency, enabling new capabilities and providing access to new markets.

The Newtec M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator is a next generation DVB-S2, DVB-DSNG and DVB-S modulator that is ready to support the new upcoming S2 Extensions and RF Carrier ID DVB standards. It has specifically been designed for broadcast Direct to Home (DTH), primary distribution to headends and contribution of television and radio content. It can be used in conjunction with set-top boxes, professional IRD’s or professional satellite demodulators and also as a platform to play a central role in networks, helping evolve businesses through ongoing market and technology innovations.

“I am very proud of the entire Newtec team for all of the work that has gone into developing a product which is capable of winning this award, greatly respected by everyone in the industry,” said Serge van Herck, CEO of Newtec. “The M6100 attempts to cover every eventuality that a teleport operator will need in order to maximize business potential, not just now but also in the future. We are proud that it is being backed by some of the industry’s most important players.”

Since 1995, the WTA has presented annual awards to companies and individuals that have dramatically demonstrated excellence in the field of teleport operations, development and technology. Since inception the WTA has been the only trade association that focuses on the business of satellite communications from the ground up.

The M6100 is designed to evolve with the customer needs by flexibly allowing re-allocation of network resources towards different or new applications or customers. It also reduces OPEX by ensuring the delivery of the highest modulation efficiency, whilst deploying Newtec technologies including Equalink®, Clean Channel Technology™ and the new S2 Extensions. The M6100 is built to help reduce the impact of RF carrier interferences by supporting the new DVB RF Carrier Identifier (DVB-CID). It also incorporates new capabilities to deliver services over Ka-band that are much needed by teleports and their customers looking to offer new services.
