São Paulo, Brazil, 17 August 2012 -  Newtec (www.newtec.eu), is rapidly expanding its Latin American presence beyond its São Paulo regional headquarters, and will unveil a range of new products, technologies and innovations that will make an impact on satellite communications at the Broadcast and Cable 2012 show.

Over the last year, Newtec, whose technology allows more than two billion people to watch television world-wide, grew its presence beyond Brazil into Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Peru.

It is now taking on the challenges of the need for increased efficiency and combating interference on satellite. To tackle this, Newtec is launching its M6100 Broadcast Satellite Modulator designed specifically for contribution (like sports and news), direct-to-home (DTH) broadcast and primary distribution head ends and towers.

Radio Frequency Interference is high on the agenda of satellite operators, broadcasters and broadcast unions this year. That’s why a critical part of the Newtec M6100 is the in-built functionality for Carrier ID insertion. Carrier ID is specifically designed to fight the threat to service caused by the sheer number of concurrent transmissions via satellite.

Another new integrated key technology is Newtec’s Clean Channel Technology™ (CCT), which goes beyond the current DVB standards. CCT is a combination of improved roll-offs for DVB-S2 and advanced filtering technologies to allow optimal carrier spacing. The combination brings efficiency gains up to 15%. The latest world-record transmission tests with leading satellite operators – Intelsat, Eutelsat and Yahsat – speak for themselves. CCT, which is available as optional feature in Newtec’s equipment portfolio, will be shown via a live demo at Broadcast and Cable.

Customers in the region are already looking into implementing Newtec’s CCT. Harmonic, one of the world leaders in digital video infrastructure solutions, and Globosat, a leading company in content production, aggregation and distribution, have already tested CCT.

Harmonic sees the advantage of Newtec’s Clean Channel Technology as saving bandwidth and the ability to use it with their existing IRDs like Harmonic’s PVR 7000, Yaniv Sibony, Product Marketing Manager for Harmonic confirmed.

Guilherme Saraiva, Planning Manager for Globosat says: “Our technical team has successfully completed live tests with Newtec’s Clean Channel Technology.  We are considering implementing this technology in combination with DVB-S2 16APSK for DSNG feeds”

“We are excited about the introduction of this new technology into the Latin American market because it is relevant, offers future proofness and is very much open standards orientated,” said Bart Van Utterbeeck, General Manager of the Newtec office in Brazil.

“Our passion is to develop products and integrated solutions to give our customers greater efficiency, increased performance and market reach and is already bringing us significant business across Latin America. The M6100 Satellite Modulator together with our latest technologies like Clean Channel Technology and the Carrier-ID are the latest examples of the innovation we are bringing to the market”.
