Famous Four Media opens tiered pricing in 4 more domain extensions
Over a million premium domain names can now be had at fixed prices from ICANN accredited registrars
Tuesday, 13 October 2015, Gibraltar: Famous Four Media, a global leader in the provision of generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs), today announced that four more of its registries have implemented its innovative tier pricing mechanism.
“Buying premium domain names has always been somewhat complicated,” said Geir Rasmussen, CEO of Famous Four Media. “Not all registrars could offer popular, high value web-addresses to their customers and, in a lot of cases, pricing varied wildly from Registrar to Registrar. Our tiered pricing mechanism simplifies things, making our premium names far more accessible to the general public”
Famous Four Media took the decision to make pricing of premium names completely transparent by putting over 1.2 million premium names into an eight tiered system with fixed prices ranging from $200 to $10,000. Accredited Registrars, are the only entities permitted by ICANN (the body that regulates names on the internet) to purchase domain names from a registry on behalf of registrants. Registrars can query the price of any standard or premium domain name in the .TRADE, .DATE, .REVIEW and .BID registries using the Extensible Provisioning Protocol (EPP), which is the standard protocol used by all registrars to purchase domain names, and can secure them immediately on behalf of their customers.
“The hugely successful trial of this system with the .SCIENCE, .PARTY and .CRICKET domain endings has made rolling this mechanism out for all of our Top Level Domains a no brainer,” continued Rasmussen. “With over $2.1 million worth of premium names already purchased, it’s clear that our premium domain names are proving very popular with registrants, now that they can see a fixed price and can purchase the name immediately.”
Famous Four Media will be opening tiered pricing on .TRADE, .DATE, .REVIEW and .BID domain extensions on the 14th of October 2015 at 15h00 UTC
Famous Four Media domain names can be registered through Famous Four Media’s network of ICANN accredited registrars.
