Incremental savings in time, money and resources with advanced Location Intelligence solutions

Windsor, Berks, 21 July 2011 – Pitney Bowes Business Insight (PBBI) – a global leader in customer data, analytics and communication software and services has today announced the UK launch of Pitney Bowes MapInfo Professional® v11.0, the latest version of the company’s flagship solution for business and mapping analysis. MapInfo Professional is a powerful Microsoft Windows-based mapping application that enables organisations to capitalise on location-based data, gaining deeper insights into their customers, resources and overall operations to make better informed decisions.

MapInfo Professional v11.0 addresses key usability and business problems related to spatial data creation, analysis, access and the cost associated with spatial data management. The new browser window offers advanced data entry options and follows the latest industry practices that result in a simple yet effective alphanumeric data entry experience. Its direct integration with MapInfo Manager promotes more effective use of an organisation’s spatial data - thereby generating considerable time efficiencies.

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council uses a PBBI solution comprising MapInfo Professional, MapInfo Manager and MapInfo Stratus. Customer and Geographical Information Analyst at the Council, Andrew D’Andilly welcomes the introduction of MapInfo Professional 11.0. “By integrating the three solutions we have halved the council cost as compared to a purely on-premise solution. The integration between MapInfo Manager, Stratus and MapInfo Professional forms the backbone of Barnsley’s enterprise data strategy for GIS and allows us to push boundaries that were not possible previously”.

“MapInfo Professional’s integration with MapInfo Manager is already enabling us to identify duplicate data and significantly reduce the amount of data on our server, while the integration with MapInfo Stratus means we can publish data from our intranet out to the public, literally within 10-15 seconds. Now we are looking forward to rolling out the new functionality in MI Pro V11 and enhancing our business intelligence even further.”

Other key benefits offered by MapInfo Professional v11.0 are:

•Faster tabular data creation and analysis via the new Browser Window: Working with large datasets and obtaining preferred view is generally a multi step process requiring ‘SQL select’ syntax. Now users just right click on the context menu to define preferred views.

•Efficient searching, accessing and management of spatial data organisation-wide: MapInfo V11.0 integration with MapInfo Manager simplifies data management, including the ability to find and open the right data quickly.  It is now possible for MapInfo Professional 11.0 users to add map data to MapInfo Manager without leaving the application.

•Perform memory intensive operations with enhanced support on 64-bit operating systems: The new version can take advantage of up to twice the memory of previous versions of MapInfo Professional.  This benefits many memory intensive operations such as large object processing tasks.

•There is also a new Premium Services option which makes road level contextual data or navigating a map as easy as clicking a button or typing an address: It’s easy to overlay street tile data and if users need to access different places of interest quickly the ‘Move Map To’ function allows them to do so with the click of a button.

Steve Deaville, Managing Director, PBBI UK and ROI, Pitney Bowes Business Insight, said “MapInfo Professional v11.0 significantly simplifies data management saving time, money and resources.  “Data is used every day and across every enterprise to make critical strategic decisions that positively impact both business and customers alike. We are committed to helping organisations to be more productive when it comes to leveraging their existing data”.

Availability
MapInfo Professional v11.0 was fully demonstrated at the MapInfo User Group Summer Conference in Bristol on 21st June 2011. Pitney Bowes MapInfo Professional v11.0 is now available in English, with French, German and 14 other language versions planned for September through December 2011.  A trial version of the software is available for download.
