Hamburg, 27 February 2014 – gateprotect AG Germany will present a software version enhanced by some state-of-the-art security features for its Next Generation Firewalls developed in Germany. A significantly faster antivirus scan, extended reporting and the possibility of integrating a wireless network into the firewall are turning the gateprotect firewall version 9.4 into a perfect protective shield against current and future cyber-threats.

 

With version 9.4, gateprotect AG will provide its customers with top-modern security mechanisms including an antivirus scan accelerated by up to 15 percent, a Reverse Proxy function in the backend as well as an easy-to-operate Administration Client compatible with Windows 8.

 

What is new is that the firewall itself may operate and configure a W-LAN network. All models of the GPO hardware series for small and medium-sized companies may be enhanced to form a W-LAN access point by means of an optional new module.

 

To provide IT managers with a faster and better overview of the security situation within the company, the reporting has been further enhanced in version 9.4: With the new Executive Report, administrators are able to generate danger reports quickly and easily that show, for example, whether and where which types of attacks from the outside have been fended off at the firewall and where there is a specific need for action.

 

In addition, the security of remote access for the interconnection of branch offices and home offices has been increased once more: The VPN client of the new version is now also able to recognize certificates on smartcards. This second factor of user identification increases the security significantly when logging into the network. Hundreds of VPN connections may thus be protected even better – and administered in an even safer manner – with software version 9.4.
