Updates on how African educators are accelerating e-learning in schools, colleges and universities with cutting edge, affordable and simple to manage client virtualisation solutions

London, UK  – May 19, 2014 – NComputing, a leader in client virtualisation solutions, today announced its participation in the 9th international conference on ICT in education and training eLearning Africa held in Kampala, Uganda. NComputing is a gold sponsor of the event and will be showcasing how its latest technology is helping even more African schools, colleges and universities widen access to elearning and improve the quality of education and training.

Jochen Polster, VP EMEA at NComputing, will be speaking at the conference’s plenary session on Thursday, 29th May, and will explore how client virtualization solutions are an engine for education and development in Africa. He will be speaking alongside the Honourable William Nyombi Thembo, the Minister for State for Information and Communications Technology, Uganda.

NComputing has worked with African educators and governments for many years.  Among its African customers are Nkumba University in Uganda, Kenya’s Institute of Advanced Technology, South Africa’s Western Cape Education Department and the Ministry of Education in Ghana.

At eLearning Africa, NComputing will explore how a wide variety of African education institutions are using its vSpace desktop and application virtualization platform and  thin client devices to transform how teachers and students use computers. Among the latest implementations discussed at the event will be: Ekurhuleni East College, South Africa; Transoranje School for the Deaf, South Africa; Bonnington Community Secondary School, Botswana, and the University of Botswana.

One of the key factors for the faster adoption of NComputing’s technology in the region is the simplicity and affordability of its thin client devices and its vSpace platform. While enabling full access to the latest elearning software and resources, NComputing solutions are perfectly suited to the unique requirements of African education. They offer greater robustness and reliability, lower power consumption and the ability to centralise school IT with no need for expensive technical support in classrooms.

eLearning Africa is the largest conference for elearning and ICT supported education and training professionals in the region. The event gathers training practitioners, education experts, vendors and researchers from more than 65 countries, including senior Government officials, policy decision makers and business representatives.

In addition to speaking and sponsoring the event, NComputing will be demonstrating how its thin clients and vSpace desktop and application virtualization platform are ideally suited to enabling innovative elearning in the exhibition area.
