Ministry of Justice invests £1.5 million via G-Cloud with Jadu
« Posted: August 20, 2013, 06:40:14 PM »

Leading UK SME collaborates with Government to create new digital exemplar service

A new digital service, developed by Jadu and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to simplify processes within Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), has been launched. The new £1.5 million system has been created in order to speed up the Employment Tribunals end-to-end process.

Prior to the launch of this new system, downloading and completing forms was a lengthy, manual process. The new design makes it quick and easy for members of the public to submit the required information online.

With Jadu’s Universe Platform, sophisticated management and processing tools help ensure the MoJ’s online forms are managed with the same robust approach as any business critical system or application. Information is securely collected and processed through business rules that help ensure data accuracy and efficient data processing.

Easy integration with the MoJ’s existing Case Management and Accounts Receivable systems also means that once the form is submitted the MoJ systems are updated at regular intervals. Previously, every office had its own back office system, which often led to disjointed processes and inefficiencies.

This cloud based system has been created with ease of use for members of the public foremost in the design team’s mind. In addition, significant design time has been spent creating an intuitive interface. The forms are both accessible and easy for the public to use and Jadu has simplified the way in which MoJ staff can keep track of cases on an ongoing basis.

“The Ministry of Justice has used the Jadu Universe service as a platform for building rich digital services,” said Richard Friend, Global Business Director, Jadu. “This, together with using G-Cloud as the procurement method and agile as the delivery method, shows how great, innovative thinking is starting to incubate in Government - from procurement through to delivery.”

Run on an agile development basis, the ten strong Jadu team released software on a weekly basis in order to fully test the new system. Agreeing the scope of work each week enabled the MoJ team to quickly avoid potentially expensive mistakes in misunderstood requirements and also ensure a more robust development.

“User need, simplicity and performance is key to any digital service,” added Mr Friend. “By working collaboratively with both the HMCTS teams and MoJ’s Digital Services Division, we have been able to produce a framework of the highest standard that has the scope to grow alongside the MoJ’s requirements.”

Mr Friend concluded, “There is a real need for better education and evangelism Government-wide when it comes to digital services. This project is a shining example of the added value SMEs like Jadu can bring to digital projects in Government through the G-Cloud.”
