millenoki now offers the most powerful user-controlled mobile data optimisation service
London, 12 February 2013: millenoki has increased the power of datasquasher, its user-controlled mobile data optimisation service, by bringing the added functionality of control and compression of video and audio to the market. The improved service is available for anyone looking to provide control, compression and tracking of mobile data, whether for one device, or across a fleet of users.
In addition, unique new features are also being included in the datasquasher service to allow the compression of secure SSL heavy usage sites like Facebook and Twitter, while retaining the protection implicit in SSL certification.
Mobile video currently accounts for the majority of mobile data used and is expected to increase 16-fold between 2012 and 2017, raising its share of global mobile data traffic to 66% by 2017 (up from 51% in 2012)*. Video is the main data pressure point driving mobile network capacity infrastructure investment and a primary source for increasing data usage costs for MVNOs, enterprises and consumers. datasquasher is the only device-side solution for mobile video data compression currently available on the market.
millenoki’s CEO Dan Field commented, “datasquasher’s video and audio compression technology can save the user up to 75% of video data. A typical one minute YouTube clip can be around 4MB, so it can make a big difference to data consumption. datasquasher gives the user the ability to sacrifice different levels of picture and sound quality that often isn’t discernable on a smartphone screen.”
datasquasher has added the compression of mobile video and secure content to its existing comprehensive functionality. datasquasher is designed to put the control of mobile data usage in users’ hands. Compression tools allow users to reduce the data used when browsing, using apps or viewing images, and now watching video or accessing secure content. datasquasher also provides the tools for users to track their mobile data usage with up-to-the-minute reporting of their data allowance and usage patterns.
“This new level of control and functionality that datasquasher now provides will, we believe, prove to be useful not only for consumers, but also for anyone managing the mobile data usage of multiple devices – whether that is an enterprise, an MVNO or even an MNO,” continued Dan. “Of course, we’d love to chat to anyone that feels datasquasher could help them.”
millenoki will be demonstrating the control, compress and track functionality of datasquasher at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 25th – February 28th. They will be in the App Planet (Hall 8.1) on stand E49.
