ICT in sustainable city developments to be discussed at Sweden Forum

11 September 2013 HGI, the leading global organization for publishing requirements for the digital home, has partnered with Swedish ICT, a group of research institutes which act as a link between academia, industry and the public sector, for its latest forum on Smart Home and sustainable city development.

Among the topics to be discussed on 1 October is technology’s role in sustainable city development and the vision for Stockholm Royal Seaport. Also, HGI member TeliaSonera will give its overview of HGI’s achievements in developing Smart Home specifications and how these can be applied for health and energy.

“Sweden and the entire Nordic region is well ahead of much of the rest of Europe when it comes to deployment of fibre. TeliaSonera and other broadband service providers in the region are offering very exciting services that may be used as a model for how we do things in the future.  HGI’s work has been central to some of the progress made here,” said Bruce Horowitz, of HGI member company TeliaSonera.

During the one day forum, which is open to attendance by any industry member with an interest in these topics, there will be presentations from a number of broadband service providers operating in the region as well as a round table discussion. Swedish ICT will also be inviting a number of speakers to address the delegates.

“The challenge of making the future home smart is no longer largely a technical matter; today it is much more about proper collaboration, integration and business models. Therefore it is important to get the various stakeholders to interact with each other. This HGI meeting is a great opportunity to initiate and reinforce the important dialogue about the opportunities and challenges,” said Markus Bylund project manager at Swedish ICT.

HGI’s event will also include demonstrations on a number of cutting edge technologies for the Smart Home including Alleato, AnyFi, DLNA, Enocean Alliance, Gigaset, IEA, Intel, Interno, KOL, Makewave, Prosyst, RTX, Smart ICT, and UPNP.
