Logicalis Opens Next Generation High Density Data Centre

Tier 3+ Facility to Support Made-To-Measure Hosted, Managed and Cloud Services

Slough, UK, 27th May 2010 – International solutions provider, Logicalis, today announced the launch of its 10,000sq.ft high density data centre (HDDC).  The Tier 3+ facility, located on the M4 corridor, will provide customers with made-to-measure hosted and managed services to support hyper-virtualised computing, storage and networking technologies, as well as Logicalis’ suite of hybrid Cooperative Enterprise Cloud services.

Tom Kelly, MD of Logicalis UK, comments; “As a trusted partner to many national and international organisations, Logicalis is committed to investing in innovative, enterprise-class IT resources that facilitate and future-proof our customers’ business strategies.  This new data centre will allow organisations to exploit a new era of game-changing high density technologies, without financial or operational risk, and in an environment optimised for stability and availability.”

Designed for maximum flexibility, power and environmental efficiency, the HDDC is based on twin data halls both with 2N power design and, uniquely, offers 4, 8, 12 and 32kw rack options throughout, enabling customers to locate low and high density systems together driving convergence and reducing costs.  A free air cooling system maximises efficiency, taking advantage of the cooler British climate, and lowering Logicalis’ operational costs as well as the data centre’s carbon footprint.

Located adjacent to Logicalis’ Managed Service Centre (MSC) and development and pre-staging labs, customers are afforded the opportunity to build, test, configure and transition their systems into a live environment, and with direct access to onsite HDDC engineers.  The HDDC is supported by Logicalis’ three MSCs, offering customers managed hosting services ranging from Intel virtualisation, through to mainframe and managed business intelligence services.

Simon Daykin, CTO at Logicalis UK, and architect of the HDDC, explains; “With our extensive experience in building enterprise grade data centre infrastructures and solutions, we understand the elements critical to deliver robust, reliable, secure and efficient IT services. Our holistic solution is unparalleled, with the capability to support the most cutting edge data centre solutions including the highest density computing environments.

“Customers don’t want to compromise business reliability, and therefore the co-location of management, development and data centre facilities allows customers to mitigate the risks from rapid deployments, migrations and service construction.  They also want to work with a managed hosting provider offering pre-built value added services and, with the investments Logicalis is making in cloud services, customers can choose the ownership and operational model for a data centre that suits their specific business and operational priorities.”

The HDDC is serviced by major carriers, including dark fibre services for customers that need very low latency or high data volume services.
