LG Expands Its New Dimension Of Home Entertainment Technology
« Posted: September 03, 2010, 09:58:05 PM »

LG adds 3D plasma and 72” 3D screens to its portfolio for the second half and is announced as Sky’s first choice for 3D TV

Berlin, Germany, Friday 3rd September 2010 – LG today launched its extensive range of home entertainment products for the second half of the year and revealed some of the latest technologies due for release this autumn, including the innovative new range of 3D plasma TVs and home cinema systems. The electronics brand also announced today that it would be extending its 3D TV partnership with Sky, as Sky recognised LG as its first choice for 3D TVs.

LG will be showcasing a breadth of 3D home entertainment products at IFA 2010 that join its already extensive 2010 3D line-up. LG now offers consumers 3D TVs across LCD, LED, Full LED and plasma technologies – with both active and passive capabilities within the portfolio - coupled with compatible 3D Blu-ray home cinema systems. This second half product range, available from October 2010 onwards, demonstrates LG’s continued investment in 3D TV and commitment to offering consumers the ultimate in choice and experience across all home entertainment technologies.

LG’s first 3D plasma TV (PX990) is supported by active 3D technology and is the first 3D plasma TV in the world to receive 3D THX Certification: guaranteeing the ultimate cinema experience in the home, with extra smooth motion for action-orientated content and vivid colours. The PX990 also sees the introduction of 2D to 3D picture conversion capability to LG’s 3D range as plasma screen technology - combined with LG’s 600hz technology for exceptional smooth motion on both 2D and 3D - presents the best possible quality conversion capabilities.

Further to LG’s existing 3D Blu-ray player (BX580) launched earlier this year, a range of two new 3D home cinema systems - HLX55W and HX995TZ - are being presented at IFA to ensure that consumers can find an option to suit whatever their sound preferences are for 3D TV in the home. As film studios continue to produce groundbreaking 3D movies that promise pioneering images and effects, LG home cinema systems match amazing picture quality with crisp sound to bring films to life in the living room.

New LCD and LED TV ranges - LE4900 and LD490 - featuring built-in Freeview HD supports LG’s commitment to offering consumers easy access to high definition content, with over half of LG’s TV line-up for 2010 boasting built-in Freeview HD. Both of these models will be available to consumers at an accessible price point, ensuring that there’s even more choice to suit every budget.

Stephen Gater, Head of Marketing LG Home Entertainment Company, comments, “2010 has already proved to be a very exciting year for home entertainment - not least due to 3D TV really becoming a reality for consumers for the very first time - and LG is confident that its second half range offers consumers even more innovative designs and cutting edge technology.

“We have continued to listen to consumers’ needs and believe that we can offer a unique range of products to ensure that there’s something to suit everyone and delivers the perfect technology for Sky’s compelling new 3D channel. We do also recognise, however, that this wealth of new technology and variety can cause confusion amongst consumers and we’re committed to making the latest home entertainment technologies accessible and easy to understand. Together with Sky we will be undertaking nationwide demonstrations of the new Sky content on LG 3D TVs to help consumers understand the options available to suit their individual needs.”

Alongside the confirmed line-up for the second half, LG will be unveiling a staggering 180-inch plasma 3D TV prototype and a new 31” OLED TV screen, providing a glimpse of LG’s exciting products to come and continued leadership in technology development in home entertainment. LG will also be showcasing new and innovative NANO Full LED TV technology, offering consumers the combination of ultra slim 8.8mm depth and sleek bezel design with unrivalled picture quality thanks to micro pixel local dimming technology.
