- Korean gaming developer Joymax chooses Telehouse to provide European PoP -
Telehouse, a leading provider of global data centres and managed ICT solutions, today announced an agreement with Korean online games developer and publisher, Joymax to provide a point-of-presence (PoP), within its Telehouse West data centre, located in London Docklands; this will enable the faster delivery of content to its online gaming customers.
Joymax was established in 1997 and over the past 14 years has steadily grown to become a leading player within the online gaming community. Its launch of Silkroad Online, a fantasy online role-playing game, in 2004 has now over 20 million registered users and is played in over 200 countries across the globe.
Joymax was looking to expand its presence into the European market. Its key requirements focused on a resilient connection and low latency to the European gaming hubs. Joymax, after looking at several providers across London and the rest of Europe, decided upon Telehouse and its Telehouse West hub.
By providing a PoP into the European markets, Joymax will be able to take advantage of Telehouse’s ever expanding footprint into the media and online gaming arena. Telehouse is a neutral colocation provider and offers a level of connectivity that is unrivalled by any other such company. It currently has over 400 carriers, ISPs and ASPs that are co-located at Telehouse, offering customers the widest selection available.
According to Namchul Kim, CEO from Joymax, this level of choice was paramount in its final decision: “Expanding into the European market was a daunting prospect. We needed to be sure that our chosen provider was able to supply the connectivity and latency needed in order to expand our presence. We looked at a number of locations across Europe and in London, but after meeting the Telehouse team and seeing its latest London facility, we were very impressed, and it was clear they were the stand out choice. The handling of the account process from the initial proposal to installation was carried seamlessly and professionally.”
Namchul Kim continued: “As a business we are looking to further expand our European footprint and with Telehouse we believe we have chosen the ideal firm to accomplish this.”
According to Michelle Reid, sales & marketing director from Telehouse, the announcement signifies the evolution of one of the oldest and most established data centre providers: “This announcement emphasises our continual growth into new sectors such as the media and online gaming communities which we have seen across our global data centres particularly Telehouse Magny in France. We have strived to meet the requirements of Joymax on every front including price and speed of delivery. By Joymax, an award winning multimedia company making waves in the gaming industry, locating in Telehouse West, further reinforces our name and reputation as the most in-demand colocation provider.”
