Jadu to deliver accessible online transactions for Directgov, the official UK government website for citizens
IT consulting firm Steria has partnered with leading UK based
Content Management Systems provider
Jadu to deliver the strategic online forms solution for Directgov, the official UK Government website for online services.
Directgov is working with a number of other government departments to use the strategic forms solution to deliver a wide range of different services. This will help to achieve a greater degree of inclusion and increase the accessibility of Government services for disabled users using assistive technologies as well as those on handheld and mobile devices - one of the key benefits for taking a web standards approach.
Directgov receives up to 30 million visits a month and is the UK's central website for delivery of online government services to the public.
Jadu, working in partnership with Steria and Directgov, has implemented its
XForms Professional software (part of the Jadu transactional
Content Management System: Jadu CMS 'Clearwater'). Directgov will be using this software platform to implement accessible
online forms within the Directgov website.
Jadu is well known for developing large scale, accessible websites across a number of sectors, from government to higher education and commercial businesses. The forms solution from Jadu has been pioneered in the government sector and is in regular use by many large local authorities such as Edinburgh City Council, Manchester City Council and Newport City Council as well as many other large organisations such as The Alzheimer’s Society and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
"Directgov is at the heart of the Government’s online strategy. Cutting the time to deploy accessible forms and empowering non-technical users to deploy online services will demonstrate a key return on investment (ROI) for the Government," says Suraj Kika, CEO of Jadu. "XForms Professional represents the cutting edge in accessible online forms technology. Jadu is proud to be working with Directgov and Steria to deliver this key enabler of the UK Government's web strategy, inclusive to all members of society."
“We are very pleased with forms solution developed by Jadu. The benefits are already being felt and the solution is working very well for Directgov. We also have further implementation plans for the forms, which we are pursuing with several departments. By using shared reusable assets such as the forms solution, Directgov is able to meet departmental needs to deliver cost effective digital services," adds Tony Singleton Directgov COO.
