Dr. Davis to become managing director responsible for operations and development in EMEA
London, U.K., 18 February 2014 – (ISC)² (“ISC-squared”) has invested in its effort to meet the need for skilled professionals in information and software security with the appointment of a new managing director to its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) team. Dr. Adrian Davis, currently heading up the Leadership and Management group with the Information Security Forum (ISF), will join (ISC)2 at its EMEA office in London on March 3. Dr. Davis will be responsible for the management of the London-based team and operations; along with the development of the professional programmes portfolio within the region.
“I look forward to welcoming Dr. Davis as the new head of our EMEA office next month. He brings business acumen and a wealth of knowledge from working with a groundbreaking international membership organisation at ISF. His international contacts, work with standards bodies and his extensive research experience covering information security issues, will add real value to (ISC)², our members, and our professional programmes,” says John Colley, who joined (ISC)² as the region’s first managing director in 2007, and continues in this role focusing on delivering continuous value to the (ISC)² membership and building strategic relationships with thought leaders and industry influencers.
(ISC)², entering its 25th year, is the leading not-for-profit professional body of certified information and software security professionals with nearly 100,000 members worldwide, including 15,000 in EMEA. (ISC)² manages a growing portfolio of certifications that span technical and managerial disciplines, and a range of development and education programmes. (ISC)² members are driving efforts to engage with government and academia, while also supporting the efforts of the (ISC)² Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust that aims to empower students, teachers, and the general public to secure their online life by supporting cybersecurity education and awareness in the community through its programs and the efforts of its members.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me to help develop an area for which I have a great passion,” says Dr. Davis. “The world is crying out for educated and skilled information security professionals, and (ISC)² allows individuals to demonstrate their competencies and abilities. (ISC)² is also an organisation that utilises the dedication of its membership to contribute to the greater good of society - a significant motivation for me.”
Dr. Davis’ appointment follows the release of two new professional (ISC)² certifications: the HealthCare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner (HCISPPSM) and the Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFPSM). It also follows the rapid growth of the (ISC)² Chapter network in the region, with 30 chapters established in just over two years; and the launch of an active advisory board to support member-driven activity in the region.
Previous to this appointment, he was responsible for the delivery of practical business solutions within a commercial setting to the ISF’s global, blue-chip membership. Dr. Davis also provided account management services, delivered consultancy services and supported sales and sponsorship activities. His expertise covers: managing and assessing information security in supply chains and external suppliers; the governance and effectiveness of information security; the role and skills of information security professionals; assessing the possible near-term threats to organisations; and cloud computing.
He also contributed to the development of ISO/IEC 27014: Governance of information security and the ISO/IEC 27036: Information security in supplier relationships series of standards, and acts as a co-editor for Part 4: Guidelines for security of Cloud services.
