ip.access celebrates small cell market leadership
« Posted: October 29, 2013, 08:33:52 PM »

Small cell innovator and manufacturer, ip.access, today welcomed an independent market research report from analysts Infonetics (www.infonetics.com) that provides firm confirmation of the company’s outstanding success and strong performance over the last year.

According to Infonetics, in the last quarter, ip.access systems and components were powering more than one-third of the small cell market revenues.   The report, which covers 2G, 3G [WCDMA & CDMA] and LTE small cells, shows direct sales of the ip.access end-to-end small cell system accounting for 12.9 per cent of the total market; while the Cisco-branded small cell access point – which was built using small cell components and software from ip.access – accounts for a further 23.5 per cent of revenues.

Welcoming the report, ip.access CEO Simon Brown said: “The research confirms that the market success we had in 2012 – winning multiple tenders and signing some 40 customer small cell end-to-end agreements – created a platform that is paying real dividends and we look forward to the continuing impact these new customers will have as they accelerate their deployments.

”Turning contracts into revenues takes time in this market,” he added.  “We focus on integrating with the operators’ networks and then optimising a range of small cell solutions for each of their target markets.

“What we are seeing now is component, product and system orders from right across our 3G Enterprise customer base feeding through to volumes and accelerating revenues,” said Brown.

For Infonetics, Senior Analyst Richard Webb, who authored the report, confirmed the headline numbers: “Our research revealed that the ‘ip.access-inside’ Cisco small cell product took an individual market leader share in the third quarter.  This means that, when you factor in the company’s direct sales, it adds up to an extremely strong quarter for ip.access, and builds on the momentum the company carried into this year.”

Webb added that he believed the ip.access partnership approach to the market, alongside its own direct system sales, would continue to pay dividends.  “As the last significant independent player remaining in the small cell market, ip.access is proving its ability to work across multiple macro environments both as an ingredient technology based on platform components with software; and also as an end-to-end system supplier.

“I believe this multi-channel approach is a key factor fuelling its current market success,” he added.
