Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral data services, today announced that SIX Swiss Exchange – the primary Swiss securities exchange – will offer proximity services to market participants from Interxion’s Zurich data centre.
By locating their trading platforms within Interxion’s Zurich data centre, in close proximity to the SIX Swiss Exchange matching engines, brokers, hedge funds and (high-frequency) trading firms will benefit from low latency trading in Swiss securities. Customers can connect to the SIX Swiss Exchange’s high speed CTI (Capacity Trading Interface) through exchange-managed high capacity fibre links. Additionally, market participants will be able to cross-connect to the ‘Financial Hub’ partner community within the data centre, including a choice of low latency connectivity options to Interxion’s well-established Financial Hubs in other liquidity centres, including London and Frankfurt.
Clemens Reuter [Managing Director and Head of Marketing and Sales] at SIX Swiss Exchange, said: “This service provides a new exchange connectivity option for our customers, particularly those wishing to establish a footprint in Zurich. A large proportion of our customer base is connecting to the exchange from remote trading locations, and is looking for Proximity Services to improve trading performance without increasing risk. All these benefits result in increased liquidity and more efficient market activity which ultimately benefits the end investor.”
“Interxion is delighted to be providing proximity hosting for SIX Swiss Exchange participants and working with SIX to bring new participants to the Swiss market”, said Eddy van den Broeck, Interxion Switzerland’s Managing Director. “We are seeing strong demand for access to SIX Swiss Exchange, and this partnership complements our existing financial services hosting business. Interxion Zurich is the largest carrier-neutral data centre in Switzerland. Our customers leverage our extensive carrier community to give them high speed connectivity back to their dealing rooms and other financial markets. We are expanding our data centre and continue to offer high-density power configurations.”
Interxion’s 3,400m2 Zurich data centre offers a 3.2 mega-volt ampere redundant grid connection, 2N UPS power and N+1 cooling redundancy and provides access to 30 network service providers. Fully compliant with all FINMA directives and SAS70 auditing standards, Interxion’s Zurich facility offers the highest standards of data centre security.
